The clerk's office works hard all year to ensure all pioneers who have recently passed away are included in the list of Empty Saddles, but we may miss someone.

​

To qualify for Empty Saddles, decedents must be at least 50 years of age at death, native-born, or have lived in Clay County for at least 50 years.

The annual list runs from July 1 through June 30.
